DEANAGIVING

The Benevolence Offering is the desire to help someone or a feeling of goodwill toward others. Benevolence can also refer to an act of kindness or charity. Little Rock maintains a “benevolence fund,” that is a monetary reserve kept in order to help those in need. The administration of a benevolence fund is appointed to the Deacon Board, who sees that the monies are distributed fairly and to persons truly in need and not just greed.

The call to provide for the needy is found throughout the Bible. In Matthew 25:34-40, Jesus emphasizes the need for benevolence in God’s name. Then John asks, in 1st John 3:17-18, “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?”

Let us be mindful that this is an offering that everyone should give in as we never know when this is an offering we will need to get from.

We encourage everyone who can to give so that we can continue to carry out the Lord’s command that as a body of believers, we care for those who might need some assistance.
