About Our Church

Organized August 14, 1956, at 180 Moore Street, Brooklyn, New York by Reverend Steve Gulley. Three persons present, voted that the church would be named the Little Rock Baptist Church and that Reverend Steve Gulley would serve as the pastor.

The church moved to 21 Tompkins Avenue and then to 467 Central Avenue in Bushwick, New York. Pastor Gulley as led by God’s spirit, was able to incorporate the church.   In 1984, Pastor Gulley faced some health challenges and though he was unable to carry on the vision, every Sunday that it was possible, he was in Little Rock and when unable, his heart and love was here. The Ministers of Little Rock and the Board of Deacons ensured that the pulpit was covered.

In 1986, after two years of illness, Reverend Steve Gulley was called from labor to reward. His work speaks for him; his dedication to the ministry can never be questioned, even today as we stand on the shoulders of his sacrifices and vision to birth Little Rock Baptist Church.

In July of 1987, after an allotted time of mourning, the Board of Deacons presented Reverend Alfonso White to the congregation and he was voted to be the successor to Pastor Gulley, and the second Pastor of Little Rock Baptist Church. Pastor White led the congregation and God added to the church as they organized ministries to help the community at large. In 2006, Pastor White resigned and relocated to Mississippi. The Deacon’s Ministry stepped up and made sure that preaching, teaching and prayer meetings were conducted.

After teaching bible class and preaching, Minister F. Craig Henry met with the Deacons and under the guidance of the Brownsville/ENY Clergy Association and its president, Pastor John H. Marshall, he was voted the third Pastor in the history of the Little Rock Baptist Church on Wednesday October 17th, 2007.  His approach is hands on and hard work, with a vow to meet the church where it is, and take it to where God wants it to be. He was ordained and installed as Pastor on Sunday March 30th, 2008, to the Glory of God.

There has been tremendous growth in the congregation, both numerically and spiritually.  Pastor Henry continues to stress that preaching draws people to Christ, but it takes teaching to grow you in Christ. Reverend Henry along with his wife Denise both love the Lord and have a passion for the His work, which is modeled through their servant leadership approach to ministry.

As led by the Spirit and with the cooperation of the congregation, the church was under a plan of renewal, revival, and restoration at the 467 Central Avenue location. While we were preparing to launch a window restoration program, the church lost half of its edifice due to an unforeseen legal action and the sale of the rented adjoined property.

Pastor Henry led the congregation into a relocation program with the belief that God would bless us to have a place of our own, conducive to ministry. On November 18th, 2016, after an 18-month process, with the assistance of Mr. Richard Flateau of Flateau Reality, and the late Mr Robert Washington Esq., and leadership of Pastor Henry along with the Deacons and Trustees, we sold 467 Central Avenue and purchased our current edifice at 958 Glenmore Avenue Brooklyn, New York.

Though we were told it wouldn’t be possible, the officers journeyed to Borough Park then to Garden City, New York, and left with the keys, giving God the glory for his favor.  With the church’s relocation to East New York, our prayer is to build our church as a place of Faith, Fellowship and Family. At Little Rock Baptist Church we are a blessed, determined people who have vowed to serve God, and we’ve seen God smile on this church, showing Himself mighty and strong.
